Who We Are
The Pomegranate is run by a team of moms who have been reading and writing on the internet for an undisclosed amount of time (probably too much). Every Thursday we publish an essay about modern parenting.
Our Team
Amy Colleen, a native of Central Pennsylvania, writes about literature, life with wild little boys, and the humor of the everyday at Reading in the Margins. Her work has appeared in McSweeney’s, Pregnant Chicken and The Belladonna, as well as in far too many social media posts (you can find her most often these days at amycolleen.bsky.social). She has read everything Jane Austen ever wrote, but cannot bring herself to wholly finish the Terms and Conditions of anything.
Lindsay Fickas (lindsayfickas.bsky.social) is a freelance writer born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. She got her start in elementary school penning horrible poetry for her local newspaper and has been in love with the craft ever since. These days, you can catch her writing about topics like music, motherhood, and sobriety. She lives out in the suburbs with one husband, two dogs and three sons. When she’s not busy ignoring all of the chaos of her household, you can find her watching Mad Men for the tenth time in a row or dancing badly at a concert with a Shirley Temple in her hand.
Lucy Huber is a freelance writer and editor at McSweeney’s. She lives with her husband Matt and their two kids, Elliot (5) and Winifred (3) in Silver Spring, MD. You might know her from Twitter or from IRL, in either case she’s sorry for talking so much. If there is an opportunity to pet a horse, she will take it.
Taylor Schumann (taylorschu.bsky.social) got her start in writing at the age of 7 when she tried to emulate the cultural impact of Harriet the Spy in her own neighborhood. Today she has mostly moved past the spy genre and writes about motherhood, life after trauma, faith, and what it’s like to live in this moment in time. Taylor is the author of When Thoughts and Prayers Aren’t Enough: A Shooting Survivor’s Journey Into the Realities of Gun Violence. Taylor enjoys 1 or 7 cups of coffee per day and is never not listening to an audiobook. She is married to Eric and they live in Charleston, SC with their son (7) and daughter (3). She learns something new about motherhood everyday.
