The description of a great brother relationship made me lol. We need to normalize the way zero-drama, occasional connection makes us feel whole and loved. Sandwich recs!
Thank you! Six months of radio silence followed by "Have you ever considered adding extra sauce to the Summer St sando?" is the best relationship in my life.
Love this and get the sentiment even with just two kids. It's so tough. We recently spent the whole day out as family going on a hike, getting ice cream, playing in the backyard, and then we were all winding down for bedtime. I told my four year old I couldn't play legos because I had to help his sister with something and he threw himself on the floor crying "I just want you to play with me." We give what we can and hope we'll find those little pockets with each kid! Thanks for sharing.
Even though we only have two (3 and 5) and I’m a dad, I relate to so much of this. The constant simultaneous conversation, the way they both jostle for attention and complain when the other isn’t getting it.
I wish I could bottle this time and save portions of it for later in life. Right now, it can be overwhelming and annoying—all this clinging. But I know at some point, they won’t want me around as much and I will wish I could uncork that bottle and have it again, the way it is now, for just one more hour.

Oh you gave 100%? Maybe try 170% next time :p
Man. I have a 4.5 year old, 2.5 year old, and 6 month old and I felt this one in my bones. Thanks for the perspective, I needed it today.
If anyone ever says to you "Awwww you'll miss those days" please send them to me and I'll handle them.
It really must be like 100% all the time though. That's what it looks like from the outside when I see moms with young kids.
I love your resolve💜
